Why I Epicure, and will continue to do so.

Food poisoning is a rough experience at any age, but all the more debilitating when one is 71 years of age. And that's what happened to me last week.

This post also serves as an explanation and apology to all who reached out to me in the last 7 days or so, and found me less responsive than usual. It also leads me to my latest news about Epicure 2.0.

GOOD FOOD, REAL FAST, AND SAFE!

I returned from a very enjoyable vacation on July 10th and set about shipping orders that had accumulated in my absence. Around noon I feeling peckish so I jumped in the car and drove to the nearby Mickey D's to grab a quick bite. It was a short drive and ordering a takeout wouldn't take much time out of a busy day, I calculated.

Back at the warehouse I took a bite of my fish sandwich and thought the tartar sauce tasted… different… sweet… tartar sauce has never tasted sweet before. After two more bites I threw the yucky thing away. All in all, I probably ate 1/3 of the sandwich.  Around four hours later I really began to regret those few minutes saved at noon I by opting for a quick lunch.

I won't belabour the agonies I started to experience, but let's just say that my need to be able to make a quick run to the bathroom meant I had to cancel dinner plans with my husband and his cousins. He went, and made my apologies, and I stayed home.

I acknowledged some time ago that at this age I do not "bounce back" from illness as I used to, even 10 years ago. RSV laid me low for three weeks last season. And I still have "long Covid" symptoms from my round of that three years ago. This time I was out of action for 3 days. Even though the worst gastrointestinal effects have passed, I am exhausted and "napping" every day.

And this is why I Epicure. I have never had food poisoning using any Epicure products and recipes that I have used myself. Homemade tartar sauce - no problem! Safer and healthier all round.

Now, about that news.

SUMMER RELAUNCH & AFFILIATION

Sometime this summer, and they have not yet given a date as to when, the new and apparently improved Epicure entity will launch with direct shipping to Canadian buyers.

It will no longer have ambassadors, but affiliates. Those who sign up to become affiliates, like myself, will earn commission of sales sold through the use of their affiliate link. This is mine:

The following details have been provided to affiliates by Epicure:

Will products still be made in Canada?

Yes! Epicure is a Canadian company and products are manufactured in and shipped from Canada. Epicure has partnered with Canadian manufacturers who are BRC Certified—the global gold standard for food manufacturing. This certification ensures rigorous traceability, proactive food safety management, compliance with GFSI-recognized standards and consistent, high-quality production practices. All products are triple-tested to be 100% gluten free, made in a nut-free facility with non-irradiated ingredients, are allergen friendly, free-from artificial colors and flavors and developed in alignment with our Never Ever List to be fast, affordable, and health-conscious, without sacrificing taste.

Will the recipes still be the same?

Yes! The recipes and ingredients in every product are everything you know, love and trust. We go above and beyond to ensure that every Epicure product meets our uncompromising standards for quality, safety, convenience and flavour. All products are triple-tested to be 100% gluten free, made in a nut-free facility with non-irradiated ingredients, are allergen friendly, free-from artificial colors and flavors and developed in alignment with our Never Ever List to be fast, affordable, and health-conscious, without sacrificing taste.

How many products will be relaunching?

We are launching with a curated collection of bestselling products. We are so grateful for our affiliates who shared with us their favourite, most beloved products. Their input informed which products we will be releasing first. We will be launching products in waves starting in Summer 2025.

CANADIAN ORDERS

Epicure will ship orders placed using this affiliate link directly to my Canadian customers. And, given the scenario I have just described to you, you can appreciate why this will be an advantage. If I get sick, orders placed by my Canadian clients will be shipped regardless.

I will also be shipping direct to Canadian customers who order products I have in stock but have not yet been relaunched by Epicure. These are largely products I obtained from the bankruptcy liquidation sale and subsequent auction.

USA ORDERS

Epicure will focus on the Canadian launch with plans to launch in the USA at a later date. I have no idea how this will work in this age of Trump tariffs and international trade uncertainty.

Until Epicure makes their products available to order by U.S. buyers, however, I will be shipping to the USA as usual, and, well, not.

  1. I will order products after the relaunch and stock them for sale to U.S. buyers who cannot use the affiliate link I posted above.

  2. I will also continue to source products from former "ambassadors," particularly of products that have not been relaunched.
