There is an ongoing salmonella outbreak in Canada connected to pistachios and pistachio-containing products.

Four brands of pistachios and pistachio-containing products have been recalled over the past several weeks by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency because of a possible salmonella contamination.
That includes Habibi brand pistachio kernels, Al Mokhtar Food Centre pistachios, Dubai brand milk chocolate bars and Andalos brand baklava.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says 52 have been sickened and 10 have been hospitalized after eating contaminated pistachios and baked goods containing the nut.
That’s only a fraction of the illnesses, as many go unreported, they said.
Costco recall notice
Produits Andalos Inc. has voluntarily recalled certain lot codes of Andalos Finger Baklawa due to possible salmonella contamination.

The Andalos Finger Baklawa (Costco Item No. 1152404), sold at Costco Business Centres in Ontario or Quebec between June 2025 and August 2025, has been impacted, according to an “important recall notice” published on Costco’s website.
Impacted lot codes are 17725, 17825, 18125, 18425, 19025, 19125, 19525, 19725 and 19825.
How sick can salmonella make you?
Most people who become ill from a salmonella infection will recover fully after a few days without treatment, but it can also cause severe illness and hospitalization.
Those at higher risk for serious illness include older adults, young children, those who are pregnant and people with weakened immune systems.
What are the symptoms of salmonellosis?
Salmonellosis has a wide range of symptoms. Some people don’t get sick at all. Though, if you do get sick, symptoms usually start within six to 72 hours after exposure. Most symptoms end within four to seven days.
Salmonellosis symptoms
chills
fever
nausea
diarrhea
vomiting
stomach cramps
sudden headache
While most people recover completely on their own, some people may have a more serious illness that requires hospital care or may lead to long-lasting health effects.
