EPICURE IS DONE

The bankruptcy trustee has ended the inventory liquidation sale. I'm sure there was some inventory remaining, but probably not a lot and I am have no idea what will happen to it.

Also, the window has closed for offers to buy the other assets of the company. That would have included the head office buildings and equipment and, most importantly, the intellectual property rights.

A new owner of the brand could bring it back to market as an online enterprise that sells direct to consumers, or could fold the Epicure products into an existing product line, with or without the Epicure brand name.

Internet chatter suggests the last option is most likely as one company is already said to be recruiting former Epicure team leaders, who have sent samples of the products to that company so that they can formulate substitute products. It remains to be seen though if they can produce products that meet the various lifestyles that made Epicure products so attractive. Gluten-free, Non-GMO, Kosher, Halal, Vegan, Nut-free, and Sodium-free or Low Sodium.

The company that is rumoured to be the buyer for the Epicure IP assets is also an American company. They might be more successful in penetrating the enormous U.S. market, but they would be attempting to sell in the Canadian marketplace during the era of Trumps' Tariffs, when "Buy Canadian" is the mantra and "Elbows Up!" the rallying call.
